"The Tire Mart" Story |
|
Welcome to our store! Here at "The Tire Mart" we are very proud of our "roots" in the automotive business. Martin (Marty) Dietel founded The Tire Mart in March of 1968 as a part time hobby. Prompted by a mail order flyer, he would order tires for family and co-workers’ cars. Marty soon had enough people asking for his buying services that he arranged for better pricing from his new found supplier. As a result, he was able to make a profit of $1.00 per tire…Wow! This was great, however, to do this right he needed a small inventory. Our first big order consisted of 25 tires! Marty built a tire rack in our family’s one car garage that would accommodate 80 tires. Well, it did not take long before we had outgrown the small garage and kitchen area so we moved to a commercial location on Miller road. We now had ample space to stock about 200 tires in our garage and basement. We then made arrangements with several local service stations to install all of the tires that we could sell. In 1970 Atlantic Richfield leased us a service station on the corner of RT 22 and Miller road. We could now provide instant tire service for our growing list of regular customers. Very shortly thereafter we out grew the abilities of two bays. In 1972 Marty learned that our present location was available. Since Arco wanted to sell the service station to Long John Silver restaurant, we moved to our current location that originally was Wamsley’s Jeep & Auto sales. In 1975 we added 3 additional bays in the front area of the shop. This was great but still not enough room to properly care for all of the customers, many of which had also become friends. Thus, in the summer of 1994 we added 3 more bays and increased our parking lot. At The Tire Mart, we strive for customer satisfaction. When you stop at The Tire Mart you’re not treated as just a number. There are no commissioned sales or service people at The Tire Mart. We sell you only what you need at a fair price because we want your trust, and you, as a customer (friend) for a lifetime. Stop in or give us a call. We’ll do whatever it takes to keep you coming back. All of this has been made possible by the Dietel family’s vision and their dedication to their customers and employees.
